My Little Monkey

I call Mia my little monkey because she loves to give big monkey hugs (and I love to receive them), not to mention my silly monkey loves to jump on the bed (and basically anything else.) But Leila is our true monkey when it comes to the monkey bars. Even as a kid, I could never do this. I grew up with an older brother and was punt, pass & kick champion and dodgeball queen, but even though I "thought" I had good upper body strength, I could never master the monkey bars. So I am easily impressed when Leila goes forward and backwards, could hang and swing all day and works right through the blisters on her hands. She's getting ready to get more blisters on her hands with her first golf lesson tomorrow morning. Since Father's Day, Leila and Nolan have had many father/daughter outings to the driving range. And at age 7, her golf swing is better than mine. Yeah, and that's right before her winter soccer skills class. So... if anyone out there has felt the slightest bit sorry for my sports-lovin', All-State baseball playing, former college-level graduate assistant basketball coaching, championship ring-holding husband because he doesn't have any boys, please don't. It's all good. :-)

Any more pictures, Mom? I could hang here all day.

Thanks for the advice about the lense. Your monkey is adorable!!
Your photos always look so 3d. Is that because you took them on the landscape mode? Whats your secret then? Looking forward to learning...Love Jules

Oooo, I always had trouble with the monkey bars...good for her!

Joe is determined to make Jia a golfer too. And a basketball player. And a baseball fan. (She knows a lot of ballplayers names already so I think it's working. We'll see about the other stuff.) Hope Leila enjoys her golf lesson!

Your post made me smile, Michelle, because it makes me realize what a gift having an awesome girl daddy is. I always assumed my every sport-playin', non-stop ESPN watchin', if it is round, I love it hubby would want boys. However, Don's heart was for girls and I know he's itchin' to have Lindy on the driving range, batting cage, and anything else as soon as possible.

It makes me nervous but I know that'll be extra special bonding for them.

Love that sweet Leila!

Love you,
Lis

Oh, cute! What a beautiful little monkey you have there, Michelle! And I can't even imagine having the kind of strength it takes to spend so much time on those bars.

Glad Dad has an athlete in his sweet girl. : )
