I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

Kara keeps asking about snow. She had her first little taste of snow on the day after Thanksgiving, but she wants more! "When will it snow, Mommy?" "Will we have snow on Christmas?" She doesn't understand why I can't answer these questions for her. "It all depends," holds no meaning for her. So when we traveled to my mother-in-law's house in West Virginia on Friday, Kara was so excited to wake up to fresh-fallen snow on the ground. And this time, it was far more than the little dusting we had at our house a few weeks ago.

But first, we opened presents.
The girls modeled their new Marshall shirts from Nana.

After opening our presents, I finally gave a green light to Kara's many requests to "Please go outside, Mommy."

Mia was a little too excited to eat the snow. :)

Ummmmm, yeah... not so prepared for the snow. The big girls each lost their gloves and we didn't pack snowpants. Not to worry, our snow angels quickly thawed out after this picture was taken.

I am so thankful we were able to enjoy the beautiful snow from inside Nana's warm house. I know of many of Nolan's relatives who lost electricity and a friend of his family that was stranded on the turnpike for 17 hours. I can't even imagine being stranded for that long without food or a bathroom, and only starting out with a 1/4 tank of gas, she had little heat throughout her 17-hour isolation. I am going to start leaving blankets and snacks in the back of our car, just in case...

I hope that you were able to stay safe and warm this weekend!
