Around the World in 30 Minutes

Last night, we attended the second grade musical at Leila's school. Each of the four classes studied a different continent and performed a song and a dance from that continent. Leila's class had Europe. Leila loves wearing her Russian dress to school and last night was the perfect time to wear her full costume. Over the past two weeks, her teacher has asked if she would bring in Russian money (and Chinese money for another class that studied Asia) and write out Russian words for her class. This has been a fun topic for Leila to study and I love that it helps her feel very proud of where she was born.

The dances were all very cute, but I would have to say the one that Leila's class did had them all gasping for breath by the end of it. It started out slow and gradually got faster and faster. I was so proud of my second grader and thought the entire second grade class did a fantastic job!

I am so happy that Leila got a chance to incorporate some her Russian culture and to be proud of her birth heritage! She looks like such a beautiful divichka in her Russian dress!
