Star of the Week

Vera (1 of 1)

This week, Leila is "Star of the Week" in her second grade class. I am quite proud of my second grader. On Monday, she had to present a poster about herself in front of her teacher and classmates. Each day this week, she shares something special with her class, like her soccer trophies, Russian matrioshkas, Russian "secret keeper" or American Girl doll. Yesterday, Mia and I joined her for lunch at school, followed by recess. (See Mia's purple bow in the photo above. She was posing for me, too, holding one of Leila's dolls. Poor thing didn't know I had to cut her out of the picture to get the poster in. I don't know why the sight of that bow cracks me up so.) :)

I just had to share a funny story. (Well, maybe not so funny.) Earlier this week, I was trying to squeeze myself onto a chair with my two big girls... a chair that is only intended for two.

Leila: "Mom, you're so BIG."

Me: "Why, thank you, Leila."

Leila: "No, Mom, I didn't mean it like THAT. I just meant you take up a lot of room."

Me: "Why, thank you again, Leila. Please, PLEASE stop now. "

Both: Conversation above followed by lots of giggles.

Oh, how I love my Leila.

How fun! I love star of the week. My boys don't get too into it, so their posters are not nearly as cute as Leila's.

I think the bow in the bottom is funny too! I could see her asking where she is in the picture!

Aw, I loved seeing how an "older" child tackled star of the week. The Tongginator's poster wasn't nearly so cool. (But don't tell her that. Heh.) Love her shy smile.

We already knew Leila is a star. Glad she has this chance to shine at school.

Gotta love the honesty of a kid.
