Oo la la - Such a Fancy Party

"An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet regardless of time, place or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle but it will never break." -Chinese Proverb

I have been so blessed by the friendships that I have made with so many truly special people - both online and locally - as a result of our adoption journeys. And it's not only me, but my children who have been given this gift of friendship. On Saturday, we were able to get together and visit with our friends - both the tall and the small - at a seriously cute Fancy Nancy-themed birthday party. My friend, Teri, thought of all the details and the girls had such a great time. Mia is still wearing her tiara around the house and carrying around her new purple lipgloss with her wherever she goes. And I always have as much fun visiting with the other moms as the little girls have playing with each other. :)

Mia - ready for the party in her new fancy dress.

Teri started the party by reading a Fancy Nancy book. A former school teacher, she has a gift for reading to small children, as you can see from this picture. I have never seen nine four-year olds sit so still.

Then they were off to bedazzle and bedeck some fancy tiaras and sunglasses.

(The birthday girl, Molly, is the top right beauty wearing the Snow White gown.)

And then glitter make-up... ooh la la!

Of course lots of giggling. They are four, after all. And they are girls. :)

Now that's one fabulous, fancy soiree! Thank you, Teri and Molly!!

How cute! I'm an education major and in my Lit. Development class someone brought in a Fancy Nancy book and it's darling. I love the one little girl with her glasses on upside-down. That's how my niece and nephew wear their sunglasses.

Wow - what gorgeous photos of such pretty girls! Just wondering how you get that bright glow in your photos without losing that awesome saturation? Do you do a lot of post-processing? Any tips? Thank you! Cindy

Hi Cindy,
I edited these in Adobe Lightroom and just used a preset - very simple and quick editing. I used a different preset, but I can't recall the site where I found it. It was a freebie. Another preset that gets a very similar look is Rebecca Lily's "Fresh Perspective" @ rebeccalily.com. I'm all for quick editing, so I love Lightroom presets. I create a lot of my own, but there are also a lot of great ones out available to buy or get for free. I hope this helps!

Cuteness! Looks like a fun party. I had a Fancy Nancy 3rd b-day party for Lily and we did the same tiara craft. With a group of 4 y/o instead of 2 1/2 to 3 1/2, they definitely looked much more into it!

The Tongginator would simply ADORE attending a party like that! Glad all of the girls had fun... Fancy Nancy is one of the best themed books to hit the market in years. The vocabulary-building alone...

(And oh my lands, my word verification right now is "mulan." Heh.)
