Christmas Memories

We had a great Christmas. It was certainly not a white Christmas, it was a rather wet one, in fact. But, we enjoyed a nice, quiet day at home, with my mom coming to join us. She arrived on Wednesday - just in time to make cookies, fudge, peppermint bark, etc. We packaged most of it up and the girls took them into Nolan's work on Thursday to hand out to people working on Christmas Eve Day - something we have decided to make an annual tradition. Only next year, we learned we need to take a whole bunch more. After making their rounds, there was only one cookie left. Whew!

We attended a lovely Christmas Eve service at our church and headed home to make the final preparations. Mia is scared of Santa coming in in our house, so we always let her sleep in our room on Christmas Eve. Leila has always been such a thoughtful big sis (he he) and has joined her little sister in the annual tradition. Kara joined them this year in the annual Christmas Eve campout in our room. It's actually a pretty good thing, because we can keep a close eye on them and make sure there is no peeking before the camera and video starts to roll. :)

Christmas 2009-3

Santa was very kind to the girls this year. Kara had a wonderful first Christmas.

Christmas 2009-4

As soon as the presents were unwrapped, Leila opened up a salon in the kitchen with her new makeup kit. We had a whole lot of teal blue eye shadow going on around our house on Christmas Day! Leila tends to be a bit heavy-handed with the blush and my mom ended up looking like a NYC Rockette toy soldier. LOL

Today, the girls woke up at 5:45 am to head to their first bowl game with Nolan. They left bright and early at 6:15 a.m. to go to the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl in Detroit, so I am amazed they even look awake in these photos. Last night, I made some signs for them to hold, including one in a shameless attempt to get the girls on tv. (Nolan's idea.)

Christmas 2009-5

Hey, it worked! With one minute to go in the game, they got their few seconds of tv air time. Marshall won and Nolan said they had a really nice day together. I can't wait to hear all about it from them tomorrow.

Christmas 2009-3

I hope you had a wonderful and blessed Christmas!!

May the real reason for this celebration remain in our hearts long after the Christmas decorations are put away.

Thanks, Missy!! I should have clarified... what to put on the sign was my husband's idea, I just made it. I would have never known to put that on there, since I never watch football. Glad he knows what he's doing! :)

The white furry boot slippers that you asked about are from Gymboree. The girls have them in white, light pink and hot pink...they are so cute I can't resist!

So beautiful, your hearts, first and foremost, but also the pictures and traditions! I had to giggle our little ladybugs got the same guitars and Hannah got the same exact microphone as Mia! What is that...great minds really DO think alike! :)

Happy New Year my dear friend, hoping 2010 is the year of nurturing my friendships!

Love,
Heather

I've visited before many times but don't think I've commented before. I know this is an older post but I just saw the HERD signs! My oldest goes to Marshall and lives in Huntington with his wife and our granddaughter! GO HERD!!
