Butterflies & Ladybugs: A Halloween Preview

I mentioned a few days ago that I pulled out the face paint and did a little face painting demo for the girls' Halloween costumes. It's something I had promised them I would do. I made a last-minute decision to take some formal photos since they were all decked out in their Halloween attire. Halloween night is always hectic and crazy busy, so I always try to get photos ahead of time. (Typically not this much ahead of time, though!) Plus, Halloween in the midwest usually means the costumes are buried under winter coats or at least three layers of extra clothing.

This was Kara's first time getting her face painted, so it was extra fun for her. I need to add some more color and detail to my butterfly girls on Halloween night, but I was happy with how it turned out for the demo. Would you like to meet my Ladybug and Butterflies? Apparently, we have an unplanned flying insect theme going on this year. :)

Kara doesn't understand why we dress up, but she has already mastered, "Trick or Treat, May I have some candy, please?" thanks to her sisters. :)

Truth be told, *I* don't really understand why we dress up! :) Other than giving little girls a chance to look like fantasy butterflies and ladybugs! They are adorable!

The girls are looking adorable as usual:) I bet their Halloween countdown is on - I know my kids at school ask everyday "how many days until Character Day??" At my school we do not celebrate Halloween. Instead we do Character Day - the kids have to find a book about their costume and write a short books report on it. Not as hard as it seems, you can almost always find a book about practically any costume:)

Blessings for a great weekend, Ashley

Love their costumes!! Looks like so much fun and it is so wise of you to do it ahead of time, usually my kids are too tired:) Love the pictures!!

Such beauty! Gosh, do they ever take a bad picture? How the heck do you get ALL three of them to look straight at the camera at the same time? I always end up photoshopping someone's head!

Love the facepaint too! We're going to be a knight (yep, a girl knight) and a black cat. I think I can figure out the facepaint for the kitty but I'm scratching my head over the other one.

Well.....those are the most beautiful bugs I have ever seen:)

They look so pretty....I love the added face paint....you are such an artist in every way!!

Good idea to take the photos in advance....it is always crazy, plus it is usually dark out.

Hope you all have a nice week!
