"Sorry, I Can't Right Now... My Nails Are Wet"

These are words that my mom teases me I used far too much as a teen. Sadly, I know it is true. Empty the dishwasher? "Sorry, my nails are wet." Fold the laundry. "Sorry, Mom, my nails are wet." But these are words I never thought I would hear my husband say.

But tonight, he proved me wrong. I actually heard him utter those very words when the girls asked for a snack. "Honey, can you get it, please? My nails are wet."

What a proud moment for me. (NOT!)

You see, my husband promised Leila at the beginning of the soccer season that when she hit 25 juggles, he would allow her to paint his nails and he would wear them like that to a soccer game. (Juggling is when a player bounces the ball on their feet and keeps it in the air without letting it touch the ground and without touching the ball with their hands.) Well... Leila hit 25 several times last week and she was all too ready to take him up on his bet. Of course, one simple pastel color wouldn't be enough. Oh, no...... Leila painstakingly picked out three bright colors that would make his nails just gooooooooorgeous.

Wow, what will the next juggling milestone bring? Makeup? Oh, no!

By the way, thanks, honey, for being a good sport and letting me post these photos on the blog. I know you can't wait to get your hands on polish remover immediately following tomorrow's game. You may look kind of funny at the soccer game tomorrow, but in your daughters' eyes, you're a rock star!
