Flash Back, Flash Forward

OK, are y'all ready for a laugh? I can't even believe I'm going to post this.

While at my mom's house last week, I grabbed a couple of things from her closet - one being my old prom dress. With the girls' recent obsession with my closet, I thought that would make a fun gown to try on. So, I brought it home, hung it in the closet and hadn't thought about it since. Well, as soon as Leila got off the bus Friday, the first words out of her mouth were, "Mommy, can I try on your prom dress now?" I wonder if she had been thinking about that all day! Since she had to get ready for soccer, it was a very quick try on - no time to even brush her hair - but I think she looked beautiful. I'm sure this is the first of many times she'll wear this.

Leila just had to take pictures with the blue umbrella, which was still laying out from Mia's play date. We had the dress pinned in the back with hair clips, so when it started to fall, it brought back old memories. Anytime I lifted my arms (as in slow dancing), my prom date had to hold onto my dress or it would just fall to the floor. Thankfully, he did his job very well, or else we would have had a very exciting prom... and a very embarrassing moment for me. ;)

And speaking of embarrassing... I promised you a good laugh.

I must be up for some personal humiliation because I have another one coming later this week. Remember I said I grabbed a couple of things from my mom's closet? The other is something Leila is going to wear in her school musical on Wednesday that I wore to a certain event when I was nine. More to follow on that one.

OK, you can stop laughing now. Please.

Now I wish I had kept the Bridemaid Dresses... My girls would have loved the addition to their dress up selections.

That dress looks so beautiful on Leila, a little nip and tuck here and there and it would be a lovely long gown for her. It looked pretty darn good just a few years ago too! And you must have had a very nice gentleman for a date too. ;-)

Michelle--- I am still laughing. Sorry. What a hoot. I love to see pictures of hair and clothes circa 1980's. What were we thinking. Well, I know what we were thinking-- that we were pretty hot back then.
I love it-- can't wait to see more.
Leila looks adorable .

So adorable! My daughter loves to wear the old dresses, said she's a princess. Now, she trys them on to get ideas for her own dresses & proms to come. (Cringe) I'm glad I kept a few of those dresses, they hold memories and help make new ones! Enjoy all that they bring. :-)

Love the dress! Looked great on you and Leila! (Mine was very similar but blue and more tin-foily looking, you're giving me some fun ideas).

I LOVE this! How fun that you still have the dress and you were soooo cute in 1988! The dress is in great shape too! Did you do something special to preserve it? I still need to do something with my wedding dress because it's in the same bag I stuffed it into after our 2001 wedding and now I have two daughters who might want to wear it someday?
