Happy Anniversary, My Sweet Mia

Mia's "Gotcha Day" - 11.27.06

I am posting this a day early, as I have a house full of people coming over tomorrow and I know I won't be able to post in the morning. I have so much to be thankful for. One such thing is that I held my daughter, Mia, for the first time two years ago tomorrow. How perfect that her anniversary falls on Thanksgiving! I just cannot imagine our lives without her. God knew better than us (as He always does) when He presented us with a referral of a 7-month old girl, even though in our hearts we were wanting and requested a 3-5 year-old child. We were adamant about wanting an older child, yet we are so thankful that He chose this little girl to be our daughter. What an amazing two years it has been. On our first days together, Mia would break into tears when I looked in her direction. For the first two weeks, she only allowed her Daddy to hold her, to feed her, to comfort her. So when the day finally came when she cried out for her Mama, it was such a sweet, sweet sound. Our first year was full of sleepless nights and night terrors, but our days were filled with sunshine and joy. There's no doubt that she loves her Daddy dearly, but she and I hold a very special bond. Happy anniversary, my precious child. I love you more than words could ever say.

I am posting some pictures from our second day at Disney. We went to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom. The castle was breathtaking and the fireworks amazing.

Congrats on the special day!

Wow, Mia was so much like Jia at the beginning. Jia also wanted nothing to do with me for weeks, and only let Joe hold her. She was nearly sleepless for a year too, complete with night terrors and a variety of other stuff. Isn't it tremendous how far they're come?

God sure did good, huh? I love this story about Mia! I didn't know she had such difficulty at first...she is just one happy little peanut! She is blessed to have you and Nolan as her mommy and daddy and you all just as blessed to have her.

The Disney photos have me DROOLING! I know you had the time of your life.

Happy Gotcha Day!! And a BIG Happy Thanksgiving. She's so lucky to have all of you as her Forever Family and I know you feel the same. We got our Maddie on Mother's Day in 2007. Something extra special when it falls on a holiday. Enjoy the family and rest lots afterwards! Off to burn the stuffing...
