The Box Office in on Fire!

We had a great Fall weekend, but the highlight of it had to be our date night on Saturday when we went to see Fireproof. I just can't say enough good things about this film. If you haven't already, schedule that babysitter, if needed, and go see it!!! And if you have seen it, but haven't seen Facing the Giants or Flywheel, I recommend going to rent (or buy) them, too! They are the first two films produced by Sherwood Pictures, with the actors all members of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. We saw those last year, so we couldn't wait when we heard Fireproof was coming out. They are proving that films with a Christian message can be successful at the box office. I can't wait to see what the Kendrick brothers come up with next, and I hope that others will see this success and follow in their path! (BTW, our church felt so strongly about this film that they offered to pay for everyone who attended church yesterday to go see it. And ours is NOT a small church.)

If you've read the articles and seen the interviews, skip over this part. I just find it all really interesting:
- Kirk Cameron plays the lead role in the film. (C'mon. Admit it, ladies. You had a crush on him growing up, too. Right?) Formerly an atheist, he now devotes his life to his family and sharing the Gospel through his career choices. Instead of accepting a salary for the film, he received a donation to a camp for seriously ill children and their families, which he and his wife founded in 1989.

- Kirk and his wife Chelsea have 6 kids - four adopted first followed by two biological siblings. I thought this was a neat story about their family.

- Kirk vowed that he would not kiss another woman other than his wife - including in his acting career, so they flew his wife, Chelsea, out to shoot the one and only kissing scene in silhouette.

So I used to have a crush on him in the late 80s, but now I have so much admiration and respect for the guy now.

Now for some weekend pics...

"Thanks, Nana, for our cute new outfits. We wore them to church on Sunday."

I took the girls and met some friends at another local pumpkin patch on Sunday afternoon. I made the mistake of telling Mia where we were going after nap, which meant that she didn't take one. She just can't nap if she knows there is something fun planned right after! Although this one wasn't quite up to par with our favorite pumpkin farm, the girls still had a great time. That is, until Mia went in to full-on tantrum mode at the end. Here are some pre-tantrum photos. ;-)

Everyone at my school is raving about Fireproof. I am so glad that there is a faith based movie that is creating such a buzz and helping people work on their marriages.

I had the biggest crush on Kirk Cameron back in the day. I had posters on my bedroom walls and used to ooh and aah over him. I am glad that he turned out so well!

Love the sweet pics of the girls. It looks like they love the corn. I can't wait to take Paige to a pumpkin patch this season.

I hope you have a great week!

I think I may have been too old to really crush on Kirk (I was already out of high school when the show started) I will have to see the movie though!

Love all the pics of the girls...come on..didn't you take at least one tantrum pic : )

looks like fun at the farm, we went to one this weekend that is 't our fav either but it was an outing:)
We have had tantrum mode without naps too!
I too think Kirk is an amazing guy. I love his strong stand for his beliefs.
I am not a big movie watcher. I am glad this alternative is out there for those that do enjoy movies though.

Hi Michelle!

Oh, how I loved this movie and enjoyed reading the tidbits you added! I did not know that KC did't accept a salary, but instead a donation for his work in the film. Wow!!

Beautiful pics, Michelle!!

Have a great Thursday. my friend!

I just saw it two days ago. I really did love it but the acting in some cases could have used some improvement. The message is soo important and didn't you love the neat house! What is flywheel? Now I am excited that there is another film to see. Can I get it at blockbuster???

PS I did have a crush. I saw him on a float in the rose parade in 88. He looked right at me and I practically swooned. Never tell anyone that, I sound ridiculous!

ps Thank you so much for that info about him. I was wondering about that kiss!!!!

Hi Michelle...and Happy Fall!! Out here in Arizona I don't see fall-like things...it goes from summer to a psuedo-winter gradually but not with the beauty of other states...so thank you for a taste!!
The girls look like they are having fun with the season :)
