All Eyes on China

I have to admit that I am not one that typically watches the Olympics. (Gasp!) I watch a lot of the gymnastics competition, but that is about it. I have a lot of respect and admiration for the talented athletes that compete, but it just hasn't been something I have historically watched. This year is going to be different. I cannot believe how excited I am about watching the opening ceremonies tonight and to see the competitions in the "Bird's Nest" and other architecturally-impressive Olympic venues in Beijing - some that we saw in the building process when we were in Beijing in November 2006. I'm sure tonight's opening ceremony will be nothing short of amazing. But most of all, I am interested in learning more about Chinese culture through all of the media spotlight on Mia's birth country. I only wish Mia she were old enough to understand and appreciate it.

I had to post this picture of a pop can that represents our family - three countries on one can. Oh, it's the simple things in life! :-)

Have a super weekend!

Fantastic photo!
We had our tv turned off for the summer, to keep the kids away from it, but I am having a hard time feeling patriotic without watching the olympics. Might need to turn it back on....

Hello, my name is Tonggu Momma and I am an Olympics FREAK. Always have been. And, no, I possess absolutely no athletic ability whatsoever.

But wasn't the Opening Ceremony simply the best there ever was??? And I'm not just saying that. I never thought anything would ever top the archer lighting the torch. I was wrong.

I am with you, on all of it.

We DVR'd it last night and started it a bit late cause I was watching with the kids and wanted to be able to fast forward through some parts. We got to the part where they started the opening ceremony with the drum, and our DVR had quit recording. It picked up after the opening when the countries started their walk. Kid you not. Luckily they replayed it last night so I got another shot to DVR it. So we will be glued to the set a day later than the rest. ;)

Love the pic of the cokes. might have teared up a little. Cause I am a big sentimental dork. ;)

We made it a full Chinese night....hung the red lanterns, shared take-out Chinese with friends and were glued to the TV! The opening ceremonies were unbelievable! China really did shine last night! It was amazing!

We share the love as well, we were so excited and watching with full smiles. And can't help but root for the China teams too!;)
This country is a piece of my daughter. I am FOREVER grateful to them for allowing us to adopt.
